Celebrating Earth Week! 🌎

Hello Briarwood Community,

We are excited to celebrate Earth Week at Briarwood from April 20–24! This is a special opportunity for our students to learn about caring for our planet and to take small actions that make a big difference.

5th graders have planned spirit days for this week, to help us show our commitment to the Earth:

• Monday (4/20): Wear blue to represent water 💧
• Tuesday (4/21): Wear Briarwood spirit wear – Briarwood Bears take care of the environment! 🐻
• Wednesday (4/22): Earth Day! Wear brown, blue, and green 🌱
• Thursday (4/23): Animal Day – wear something with an animal on it 🐾
• Friday (4/24): Team Day – teams work together to help the Earth 🤝

On Wednesday (Earth Day), we’ll also have a special focus during lunch. Staff and student leaders will support students in sorting their waste correctly into recycling, compost, and garbage bins—helping build habits that protect our environment every day.

How Families Can Join In 🌍

• ♻️ Practice sorting recycling and compost together
• 🚶‍♀️ Walk, bike, or carpool when possible
• 💡 Turn off lights and electronics when not in use
• 🛍️ Use reusable bags, water bottles, and containers
• 🌿 Spend time outdoors and talk about ways to care for nature
• 🧹 Do a quick neighborhood or park clean-up as a family

Small actions add up to big impact, and together we can help our students become thoughtful stewards of our planet.
